A Guide To Prices & Fees

Asking how much a photoshoot costs is a bit like asking about the length of string.  The answer is always: ‘It depends’…on the length of time it takes to shoot and edit the images,  which in turn depends on a number of other factors such as location, complexity, number of required images, how much editing is done, how many formats are needed, cost of additional materials and how many amendments a client requests.  However the following Rates apply which may help you to determine your costs:

Food & Product Photography

Showing off your products to their best possible advantage is one of the highlights of my work as a photographer.  When it all comes together and my work makes your work shine then it is so worth all the sore knees!  While the cost of this depends very much on your particular needs for a given shoot, I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to plan and budget.

I charge a sessional day rate of £300 based on an eight hour day, with a minimum ‘call’ of four hours. This includes styling, shooting, editing and delivering digital images for web and print use. A £50 booking fee will secure your shoot and will be deducted from your final bill.

Headshot Sessions - Set Price

Headshots are just the job for your website, social media or author blurb, and if that’s what you need, this fixed cost package is just for you!  Typically you will receive up to a one-hour photoshoot either at my studio, out on location or at your home and five professionally shot and edited photographs supplied as high-resolution retouched digital images for you to print for £150.

What You Are Paying For:

  • My experience and expertise.

  • The time taken to shoot the image or images.

  • The time taken to process the image or images.  Standard image processing from RAW may include cropping, editing for colour balance, assessing for contrast, and basic sharpening as well as geometric corrections where necessary.  For product photography there may also be a requirement for spot and dust removal.  In general it takes at least as long to edit the images as it does to take them, if not more depending on the subject matter.

  • Digital files of the photographs taken, usually supplied electronically, usually in jpeg at both low resolution (72 ppi) for web use and high resolution (300 ppi) for print.

  • A Standard Usage License outlining your right to use the images.  The Standard Usage Licence allows for Personal Use, Internal Only Use, as well as PR, Press and Distribution Use.  As a rule I do not impose any time restrictions on your right to use images, nor do I restrict how many times you may use them.  If you need images for some other specific purpose not covered by the Standard Usage License, or for commercial purposes (e.g. to put on merchandise or to be published in a paid-for publication or for web and print advertisements) I can quote for the appropriate license.

Extra Processing Costs:

  • Basic image processing is included in the price you pay for Kathryn Polley Photography to take your images.

  • Enhanced image processing and photoshop work, if required is charged at £40 per hour or part thereof.

Other Possible Costs:

  • Mileage for all projects outside the G84 postal code is charged in addition to the Standard Rates at 45p per mile or at cost if not using my own transport.

  • Accommodation, where required is charged at cost.

  • Any props or addional materials not already in possession of Kathryn Polley Photography may be provided by the Client, or purchases itemised and billed to the client as discussed and agreed in advance.

  • Licences awarding Usage Rights beyond those outlined in the Standard Usage Agreement will be negotiated with the Client on a case by case basis.

  • Moving Image work to be negotiated on a case by case basis.
